PSG Defeats Marseille on Penalties to Secure French Super Cup in the Middle East.

PSG players celebrating

The Parisian club has now secured the season-opening trophy on 14 separate occasions.

Paris Saint-Germain required a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in the Gulf and capture a record-extending fourth consecutive French Super Cup title.

The Champions League holders appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable triumph in the match between the French league winners and the Coupe de France holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.

However, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to seize a shock advantage. First, Mason Greenwood converted from the spot-kick, before Willian Pacho unfortunately turned the ball into his own net for an own goal.

In a remarkable twist of events, the Portuguese striker grabbed a vital leveler in the final moments to force the match into a penalty shootout. The Parisian shot-stopper Lucas Chevalier then stood as the key figure, stopping decisive kicks from O'Riley and Hamed Traore.

From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for Paris Saint-Germain to seal a convincing shootout victory.

Now 14-time winners Paris Saint-Germain, who met last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Olympique de Marseille after completing a league and cup double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen seasons.
